STS Eng (Sea to Stars Engineering Pty Ltd) is an Australian engineering consultancy delivering custom mechanical, multidisciplinary and research-driven engineering solutions.

We support research organisations, industry and specialised clients developing prototype systems, scientific equipment, marine and field-deployed platforms, and custom-built hardware where practical engineering and flexible problem solving are critical.

STS Eng focuses on maintaining an agile and technically focused structure, allowing clients to work directly with experienced engineering input throughout concept development, design, fabrication, integration and testing.

Our approach combines practical engineering experience with hands-on development capability to deliver solutions that are fit-for-purpose, manufacturable and grounded in real operational requirements. Sean McCracken, CPEng, is the Director and Principal Engineer of STS Eng, with more than 24 years of engineering experience across marine systems, multidisciplinary engineering, prototype development and research-focused projects.

Ship Marine Growth - Scientific Test & Measurement Systems

Design and development of a custom laboratory test rig for experimental research applications.

Work included elicitation of client requirements, concept design, CAD development, equipment procurement, fabrication, instrumentation integration and automation, and commissioning.

Development of High-speed Turbogenerator

Managed the design of a prototype magnetic bearing generator with bespoke in-house design of an impulse turbine wheel recovering power from expansion of pressurised fluid. Demonstration Solar Thermal Plant Installation

Concentrated solar thermal troughs directly heating the supercritical working fluid to a Rankine power cycle generating electricity, or storing it thermally for later. Ambitious, difficult and never before done. We did it.
